From 23rd March 2002, Downpatrick
Folk Music Club will host its world famous LIVE FOLK PERFORMANCES at The Avenue
Bar, 16 St Patrick's Avenue, Downpatrick, just off the town's main shopping
area, Market Street.
If you are coming from Belfast then simply take the A7 south from
Belfast through Carryduff, Saintfield and Crossgar, drive into the centre
of the town
and turn right into Market Street at the staggered crossroads. Take the
first left into St Patrick's Avenue and The Avenue Bar is about 50
metres up the street on your left-hand side.

If you are coming from Newcastle
direction, take the Newcastle Road from Clough for about 6 miles. Approaching
the centre of the town, after SUPERVALU and opposite XTRAVISION (on your left),
take the first right into St Patrick's Avenue. The Avenue Bar is about 50
metres up the street on your left-hand side.
Parking is on street, or there
are car parks nearby in Irish Street and beside the St Patrick's Heritage Centre
- about a minute's walk away (see street map).

If you have some time to
spend in Downpatrick while waiting for a concert there are several local
sites, nearby worth a visit. It is close to the old Down County Gaol (now the
prize-winning Down County Museum), St Patrick's Heritage Centre and Down
Cathedral
(where St Patrick is thought to be buried), Down Civic Arts Centre and
Denvir's Hotel (17th century).

The hotel boasts some excellent
architecture having been restored to its former glory in recent years and
you can enjoy some excellent food in comfortable
surroundings. The beautifully restored Down Railway Station, with working
steam locomotives, is just a short walk away. There are also some good shops
to browse through, or you could just have a relaxing pint in the Avenue
